SQL Agent Not Allowed to Run. I upgraded works Small Business Server 2003's SQL Server 2000 SP3 to SP3a. Then SharePoint Services and Veritas BackupExec 9.1 stopped working. I then checked the Event Viewer and saw these messages:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: SQLAgent$SBSMONITORING Event Category: Service Control Event ID: 101 Date: 1/28/2004 Time: 10:19:36 AM User: N/A Computer: Server_Name Description: SQLServerAgent service successfully started.
----
Event Type: Error
Event Source: SQLAgent$SHAREPOINT Event Category: Alert Engine Event ID: 324 Date: 1/28/2004 Time: 10:19:40 AM User: N/A Computer: Server_Name Description: SQLAgent is not allowed to run. ---- Event Type: Information Event Source: SQLAgent$SHAREPOINT Event Category: Service Control Event ID: 102 Date: 1/28/2004 Time: 10:19:40 AM User: N/A Computer: Server_Name Description: SQLServerAgent service successfully stopped. The fix is to edit the registry and delete the GUID Key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/MICROSOFT SQL SERVER/SHAREPOINT/SQLSERVERAGENT Then start the SQLAGENT$SHAREPOINT in the Services, and SharePoint and Backup Exec will work. Do note, in Backup Exec, you may have to start the services for Backup Exec at the login screen or in Services. Author: Eric C. Vogel |
